Lester Oliveros is Guatemalan. He is 34 years old and is studying Arts and Letters. He has also published a book. He told us that his love for the literature started when he was only 10 years old, when he read in his grandmother’s small library at home.
Lester noticed the urgent need of a school and a community library when he first visited Ciudad Vieja and was very interested in NDG’s projects from when he learned of the organization through the website and his first interviews. He describes this experience as one that “exceeded his expectations.”
“What I really like is that I am able to work with the children. The way I become a connection between the children and the teachers, between the story and the ones listening to it, between the spectator and a play” Lester said.
Lester’s goals in his new job are to reorganize the library, amplify its services, strengthen the computer classes and improve the workshops, among others. He also has great ideas for future projects. “These goals will support NDG in its educational goals and will help to develop the children’s creativity as well” Lester told us.
We would like to welcome Lester Oliveros and wish him the best in his new position.
